Tablescape Thursday: A Table for Casual Dining with TakeOut

Who says that getting take-out for dinner (Chinese take-out in this case) has to be boring? All the other tablescapers and dish lovers out there will probably agree with me; any reason to set up a pretty table is a good reason!! Here's my submission for this week's Tablescape Thursday, hosted by Susan over at Between Naps on the Porch!

I've made a very simple setting for our dinner for four tonight. No placemats, just napkins and my monogrammed table runner.

I've nested the Chinese take-out boxes in a large oval basket with some dish towels that have the same color scheme.

I'm using my casual dinnerware and casual flatware. I placed the large soup bowls on top of the dinner plate, so that my dinner plate is sort of like a charger. I've also added a fork (tines down in the European style) for guests who may be a little uncomfortable with using chopsticks! The red and black embroidered case for the chopsticks is on the right side. This napkin fold is called the "Davallia" and is a perfect fold for a napkin with a monogram. These napkins are from the hotel linens collection from Pottery Barn and match the table runner.

Here's the extra chopsticks in their cases. I have a set of eight.

To add to the Asian theme, a stone garden Buddha has been placed as my centerpiece.

To the far left of the Buddha is an incense burner I've had since high school!! (Three monkeys in the "See No Evil, Hear no Evil, Speak No Evil" pose!). There's also a black painted celluloid box that is not Asian (my grandmother bought it somewhere in Europe), but I like the colors.

And a mini "pocket" Buddha, next to the big one. One of my husband's musician friends is in a band that is very popular in Japan and they frequently go on tour there. He brought home this little pocket Buddha for my hubby as a souvenir.

Candles lit!

I didn't really have any appropriate candle holders, so I thought I'd just go simple and use these vintage glass leaf candle holders that I've had forever.

Wine with dinner, I ask?? Certainly!

I'm using my balloon goblets tonight; with wine glass charms (in red, of course!).
