I've never actually had breakfast in bed, but if I did, I think it would be divine to be served just like this! So I know it's not really a "tablescape", but I thought of making a lovely "trayscape" instead for this week's Tablescape Thursday, hosted by Between Naps on the Porch.
I've found so many uses for the large silver tray that came with my vintage silver coffee and tea service! Here it makes a nice serving tray for my "continental" breakfast in bed. A glass dessert cup is perfect for a serving of fruit and yogurt. Once again, I am using my Noritake fine china, which you may recognize, and my good flatware.
My mother-in-law collects vintage pink Depression glass and has many beautiful dishes and glasses she has accumulated over the years. She has given me a few pieces as gifts. This small pink plate is probably a bread plate. It's perfect for my continental breakfast tray; either a warm scone or a buttery croissant would fit here nicely! Mmmm!
Juice glass for fresh-squeezed orange juice and of course, the ubiquitous silver coffee pot, for coffee! I always have some white paper doilies, in different sizes, in my sideboard. I like to use them on serving trays, on my bakery-style cake pedestals..etc. And they add a pretty touch to my trayscape!
A bud vase with some pink hydrangea (silk).
I recently bought a whole set of these vintage embroidered linen napkins at an antique shop that I frequent. I also found place mats that match. I love these!!! They are in very good condition, too. There were 12 napkins in the set, and 10 place mats. I paid about $15, which I thought was a pretty good deal!
And of course, breakfast in bed should include a morning newspaper and a magazine! Today it seems I have a Pottery Barn mag, although my usual magazine of choice is Victorian Homes!
I used a vintage, lace-edged dresser scarf, folded in half, on the tray to keep things from sliding around.I find these everywhere and they are so pretty....and so cheap! I got this one for about $3. I have several others as well and I find many uses for them.
Aaaaahhh! I could stay in bed all day!
Thanks for visiting! Be sure to check out all the other beautiful tablescapes this week at Tablescape Thursday!
