My "New" Furniture...

They say the best things in life are free.....like love and respect.................furniture.

Did she say furniture??

Yes!
My dear hubby's infallible ability to make friends with just about any person on the face of the earth and also make them want to give him things for no reason, has resulted in our being the eager recipients of some free furniture!

We got this pretty couch (it's a newer piece, but made to look "old"), that I thought would fit nicely in our parlor.

It has these fancy ball and claw feet...
That sort of match the ball and claw feet on the little table we use as a tea table. So pretty!

I don't know why I love taking pictures through the French doors...but I always do! There are matching pillows with the sofa that you can see in this picture. I'm actually going to try to sew new covers for these. I told Erik that I have a "thing" about pillows with matching fabric. I guess I just like fancy pillows.

Like this fancy velvet pillow (with tassels!); the crushed velvet looks sort of brown in photos, but it's actually more greenish. The burn-out pattern is of an Oriental style and depicts cranes and leafy branches that might be bamboo. The back of the pillow is cream colored satin. This pillow looks like it might be old, but I actually bought it in 1999 at Pier 1 Imports.

We also got two of these wing chairs. The light blue velvet upholstery isn't horrible, (I've seen worse) but I will probably be having them re-covered at some point when I decide which room I'm going to use them in. I figured that if I was going to get free wing chairs, I didn't care what the upholstery looked like right now.

One of them is temporarily in our bedroom. I used to have a wicker chair in this spot (those embroidered pillows I made more than fifteen years ago). The baby blue fabric of the chair doesn't look too ghastly in here. Our bedding is blue and cream with touches of  green, but the blue is closer to a robin-egg or Tiffany blue color and not this shade. Still, the furniture was FREE...and who can pass that up, I ask? The couple who gave these pieces to us had recently bought new furniture and were getting rid of these and for some reason, didn't want any money for them. How nice is that?

Thanks for stopping by!!!!
