Simple Spring Centerpiece

Although spring is still a long way off here in Wisconsin (we still have a couple feet of snow on the ground!), I felt that I could do with a little bit of "spring" inside the house, if we couldn't have any outside.

I changed out the table linens on the dining room table, added a pretty green and yellow Ralph Lauren table runner I bought last year at TJ Maxx for $9.00 and put out a very easy to make spring centerpiece.

I picked up some faux spring blossoms at Michael's right around Valentine's Day (already 40% off) and loosely arranged them in a tall heavy crystal vase. I used a few branches of faux pussy willows, some faux woody elements and a few branches of what I think are supposed to be apple blossoms. The arrangment is casual and loose, yet the height of the branches makes a real statement.

My mom has both apple and cherry trees in her orchard at her house and she used to cut off a few branches and "force" them to bloom in a bucket of water in her house, just in time for Easter. We used to hang small Easter ornaments and hollowed out painted eggs from it for an "Easter Tree". I'd like to try that sometime myself, although I'd have to ask her how long it takes to make them bloom because I don't remember!

For just a few dollars I have a pretty spring centerpiece for my table. I'll be using this centerpiece for a spring tablescape I will be doing soon and I have a few other branches with yellow, pink and purple flowers on them that I can add later to this centerpiece when I start decorating for Easter.

Here's hoping we'll see some spring weather coming our way before too long! I'll be joining Courtney at French Country Cottage for Feathered Nest Friday. And Cindy at My Romantic Home for Show & Tell Friday.
Thanks for visiting me!

Katie-

I love your touch of Spring! They have such nice silk flowers these days, nobody would know they're not real unless they could smell the difference! I also love the sunlight coming through your windows and your beautiful draperies. Thanks for boosting my spirit and giving me a hint that Spring is almost here!

Katie it's so pretty!! I love those spring blossoms too. Although we had a very bad December and January, February was like spring so I'm not sure what's in store for this month. Everything is budding, so I bet we will have a big freeze! Love your cruet set too. I have one that belonged to my great grandmother.

So, so elegant...just the right touch of spring, though I must admit I was hoping they were really real! I want spring to be here now. LOVE the red wall, Katie - I have that same color through my own house. Happy Saturday - Tanya

my mom use to cut her forsythia and bring to me on her visits so I could have some blooming inside. So now I have a faux bouquet but it does make it look like spring. Your blossoms look great!

Your spring centerpiece is beautiful. I love pussy willows. You don't see those in real life very much around here anymore. Which reminds me to check the local nursery to see if they sell them. I'd love to have one in my yard.
