Tablescape Thursday: Spring Breakfast

It's Wednesday night.....which means it's time to post a tablescape for Tablescape Thursday, hosted by Susan over at Between Naps on the Porch!!!
This week I am showing  breakfast for two with a nice, spring-time feel!

Taking a look at the cover, I have my vintage thread crochet tablecloth and vintage linen placemats on the table. The green dinner plates are a recent acquisition from TJ Maxx (only $3.99 for each plate). I love this light green color; it's one of my favorites! The hubby likes to have cereal with his breakfast and I like to have oatmeal in the cold months of winter, so cereal bowls from my casual dinnerware, and matching coffee cups, are a necessity at the breakfast table. I also have my glass footed desert bowls on the left (hard to see!) for yogurt parfaits, another treat I sometimes have at breakfast. I layer plain yogurt with some fruit and granola, and top with a little bit of honey. Mmmm...

I placed a small bread plate in a creamy yellow color under the cereal bowls.

Removing the cereal bowl, we can see there is a multi-colored bird and flowers on the plate. My mother-in-law gave me these plates. I don't know much about them, but I did recently see some others just like it in a local antique store. I am planning on going back there to get those soon and I hope they are still there!!! The  plates were labeled as being "blue peacocks", although I'm not sure if the bird is meant to actually be a peacock. At any rate, I love them! These are small plates, probably bread plates. The others I saw recently are slightly larger and square and are probably a salad plate or luncheon plate. It would be great to eventually locate a whole set!

I've had these crystal wine glasses forever....I no longer remember the brand or style name. I have an odd number of them (a couple of them have broken over the years) and I usually use them as water goblets. Today I think I will use them at the breakfast table for orange juice! They add a nice sparkle to the table.

Hello, butter! Instead of using my individual butter domes, today I put the butter dish out that goes with my casual dinnerware. I also have a gravy boat that matches this set. Erik loves his butter and he uses plenty on his breakfast toast! (I am more of a jam girl, myself.)

I've used my yellow plaid napkins, which I have folded into a simple roll with a napkin ring and placed at the top of the cover.

I just love the simple, yet exquisite detail on these place mats! So pretty!
I have my white painted metal bird-cage tea light holders on the table today. You may remember seeing these on my Frou-Frou Valentine's Day table from a couple weeks ago. Also, adding a little spring vivacity to the table are these small (silk) bouquets in canning jars. I got these silk bunches at Michael's last year on clearance. I always have a few empty canning jars around. My father and stepmother have a large garden and orchard and they share much of their garden's bounty with myself and my siblings. I always get several jars of tomatoes, home-made applesauce, canned pears, home-made salsa, pickled asparagus and other goodies from them every year. After use, I always wash the jars and save them to return them to my dad and stepmother for the next season.

My little crackle glass creamer pitcher makes an appearance again on this table, along with a newer acquisition; a glass muffineer ( a.k.a. a sugar shaker) with a silver top. I love these! I like a little powdered sugar on top of scones, muffins or French toast. The 19th century sure had a way of coming up with a kitchen tool for almost any occasion!

And last, but not least, the centerpiece I put together using a bird's nest from my yard.

I saw this robin's nest in the maple tree in our back yard when autumn came and all the leaves fell; it was so well hidden in the middle of the tree that I never even saw it, even though there's a bird house (for wrens and chickadees) on a branch very close by that I had cleaned out at the end of summer. The maple tree is very young, so I was just able to reach the nest by standing on tiptoe. I used green speckled eggs to go with my green and yellow color scheme. The leaves around the base of the white metal stand are silk. I have a large quantity of these from when I did my sisters's wedding bouquets in 2005! They come in handy for other projects.

Little white birds sit at the base. The centerpiece is sitting on a round, quilted green place mat. I bought a set of four of these place mats recently, also at TJ Maxx for about $4.99 I think!

I found that the spring breakfast table transitioned nicely to a spring dinner with the removal of the flower bouquets and the addition of two green taper candles in my glass leaf candle holders.

We'll take away the cereal bowls and coffee mugs for dinner..........

I love it all! It's just beautiful! The colors are so springy and I love the vintage linens especially! The crystal looks like Cristal D'Arques "Longchamp" by Durand. I love that pattern and just finished putting together 12 5-piece place settings of it. Beautiful table!!

Hi Katie,
Your tablescape is STUNNING! Everything is perfect. Your new light green plates are beautiful, I love seeing that color in your home and blog so clean and fresh!
Your nest is a good find. I have a large yard with dozens of trees and never a nest, don't know why. So I look for them on "Sunday" drives. Bella

I love it all!! the tablecloth is divine. I love the spring scape and colors. I do the same thing with my jelly jars from hubby's parent's farm in North Carolina. We haul them back up there simply to load up on another year worth of grape and strawberry/fig jelly.

Hi Katie~ ~It's nice to meet you. I love your tablescape and the lace cloth is just beautiful. I use a lace cloth and placemats also thinking I will protect the lace a bit. I will be back soon to take a look around when I have a little more time. Your house sounds lovely.
